Hi everyone, I sense that everyone is having a busy month just like how I ‘am since we are all heading towards the end of the term. Every week we had a chance to learn about new tools and engage with other people. Last week we had a chance to work with people that we never met before, but only rely on Todays meet, Google Docs, and Ever note, emails in order to communicate. Which was a great experience, although it was a little bit difficult. This week has also been a great week because we had a chance to learn about Voice thread. Personally I have never heard of this before, this will definitely be a great learning approach for myself. This tool is designed for people to collaborate through voice recordings and type any comments as required. Some people can express their ideas better verbally and some people can learn better by listening, rather than reading. I think this is a great learning strategy because I learn better by listening, watching, speaking and listening to feedback/comments of my work. Also had a chance to participate in The Poll Daddy Polls for the Digital Compass Activity to answer various questions. This is also a good way to learn because this allows everyone to participate and communicate.
I will add Voice thread to my PLE under learn and create because we had a chance to explore about this new tool and created a new account under my name. This is a different way of learning and people have their own ways of learning. I intend to share this tool with other people.

In terms of attaining Digital Citizenship, is crucial to understand the concept of "Electronic exchange of information" (Ribble p.23). It's important to expand the communication strategies using different methods.

This week's Feed I found an interesting article “TED2015 Skype in the Classroom with Dan Pallotta” basically they will be using Skype in class to share or communicate with other students. To get everyone’s opinions and o learn about something new. I thought this was kind of a neat idea because now day’s students learn better using the creative strategies. This is great learning approach as well.

Hi Janani,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your blog post this week. Just like you, I had never heard about Voice thread before either. I think it is definitely a neat way to collaborate with others, as typically, that is done just through text online. It takes online communication to a whole new level, allowing you to listen to the person talk and hear the tone of voice and how things are phrased -- something that is not evident in text communication. Everyone has different strengths when it comes to communication, so tools like these are important as it accommodates just that.
Thanks for sharing!
Alyssa
Hi Alyssa thank you for replying to my post
ReplyDeleteYes, this is definitely one of the best way to accommodate for people who, is in the need of different learning approach. Voicethread is one of the best way for collaborative communication.
Hi Janani,
ReplyDeleteGreat blog post! I enjoyed reading your blog this week as well! Learning how to use Voice thread was definitely a new experience and I'm glad I got the opportunity to. What I really liked about it, was that it not only allowed you to record your voice but it allowed you to type out what your want to say as well. For those who love to record what they feel it's a great tool and for those who do not like to project their opinion they can still type it out.
It is really cool how they are planning on using Skype in classrooms allowing students to get more exposure to different tools. I hope that students use the tools they are provided with responsibly and respectfully.
Cheers!

Hi Saganaa thank you for your reply
ReplyDeleteI like how you mentioned that this will allow people to record their voice if they wish to otherwise they can stick with typing. Bringing skype is also a great way to develop their communication skills.
thank you
